Anthony Bait

The wonderful folks at Bouchercon have sent out the ballots for the Anthony Awards.  Here is a list of my short stories which are eligible. To refresh your memory, in most cases I have included a link to essays I wrote about them.

"The Fourth Circle." Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. May June.

"Taxonomy Lesson." Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. September/October.

"At the Circus." Monkey Business: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Films of the Marx Brothers.

"Why Judy Why." Only the Good Die Young.:Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Billy Joel.

"Shanks's Locked Room." Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. March/April.

"Meet Me at the Morgue." Die Laughing: An Anthology of Humorous Mysteries.

Of course, when you are deciding on your favorite anthologies I would encourage you to consider, Monkey Business, Only the Good Die Young, and Die Laughing.

And in the nonficton/critical section: I made a small contribution to the MWA manual How to Write  a Mystery.

Why Judy Why at SleuthSayers

At SleuthSayers I explain how I became a fan of Billy Joel's obscure first album, which led to me writing "Why Judy Why" for Only the Good Die Young.

Why Judy Why

I am delighted to have a story in Only the Good Die Young, Josh Pachter's new anthology of crime stories inspired by the songs of Billy Joel. "Why Judy Why" appeared on the obscure first album, Cold Spring Harbor.
